We're still here!!

Life is busy right now.. I feel like I'm always saying that these days! :) Since my last post, I've had a birthday, Scott was gone for a week for work, I got to meet him in Chicago while the kids hung out with my parents, Addison has been going to dance, Fischer has been going to karate, they've been going to school and I spent this past weekend working at the Moms of Multiples Consignment Sale.

So. It's been busy and I haven't had time to do any sort of updates on here. I hope to do some specific updates soon!

Last week, Addison had her routine check up at the ENT to make sure her tubes look ok. He was pretty happy with how they look, but said the left one is a bit "kinked." He said that since she's older, hopefully her "real" tubes will do their job better this year when she gets sick. So, I guess it's sort of a wait-and-see thing... surely we won't have a combined 15 ear infections this cold/flu season?! I sure hope not!

Here is Addison while we waited for the Doctor to come in...

Also last week, Scott and I switched up classes with the kids. I took Fischer to Karate on Tuesday and Scott took Addison to dance on Thursday. It was a nice change for all of us!

The other big happening was the South Carolina football game yesterday. We got another win! Addison and Fischer supported the team with their clothes... but sadly they had no interest in watching the game. Well, they were a little interested at first because I'd told them we were playing the East Carolina Pirates. But, once they realized there weren't pirates running all over the field they wanted nothing to do with the game. :)

They sure looked cute though. Here they are helping Scott with some yard work yesterday morning!

I can't believe that it's been 4 years since finding out we were going to be having 2 babies instead of 1. On September 9, 2008, I went to my "routine" appointment only to get the biggest shock ever! So far, nothing about that day has faded from my memory.... pretty sure it's something I will never forget!

The kids and I went to the zoo this morning so that we could be outside in this awesome weather. I know we still have some hot days ahead of us but today was great. I, not-so-smartly, agreed to let them have an "ice shake." Also known as an Icee. It was great while they were drinking it because we just slowly walked around while they drank them. Then they were done and the sugar set in! I should have known better... :)

Here they are enjoying their ice shakes!

Dear Fischer,

Like your sister, you recently turned 3 1/2. You also have gotten so big and I'd say weigh at least 33 pounds! You are getting so tall too. I think finding pants that fit your little waist and long legs will be a challenge this fall and winter. You are currently wearing clothes that range from 2t-4t and a size 9 shoe! I think you are going to have big feet like your Daddy.

You are still wearing a pull up for naps and at night but I think we could quit putting them on you. You wake up dry 99% of the time, and that 1% that you aren't is almost always in the morning and never at nap. Speaking of naps, you still love your naps and do not function well in the afternoons without one! If it's getting to be too late in the afternoon, you will usually walk into your room and lay down on your own. You go to sleep great at night too, and you sleep with your closet light on these days.

You love books and being read to, just like when you were a baby. You've always loved being read to, and a lot of times it is the only time you will hold still! You have always paid such close attention to the words and letters, and it's definitely showing now. You know so many of your letter sounds and are even spelling some words on occasion.  You've spelled cat, ant, duck and Steve (Grandpa's name). You LOVE numbers and love counting anything and everything. You've counted to 20 several times but usually lose interest after that.

Your favorite thing to do right now is ride your tricycle. It's funny because you and Addison got them almost 2 years ago and have just recently started liking them. I'm glad we held on to them! Most of the time, you kick your shoes off before riding your tricycle... I think you get better grip on the pedals in your bare feet. This has resulted in some scraped toes but you don't seem to care.

If Daddy is home, you want to be wherever he is doing whatever he is doing. If it's just me here with you, you are happy with hanging out with me! :) It's becoming a challenge right now because you want to be outside a lot while Addison wants to stay inside and do an art project. Lately she's been coloring on the porch while you run around, throw balls and ride your bike. You also love to dig, and if you find a worm, it makes it so much more exciting! I think you sleep so well, and still need a nap, because you are non-stop as long as you are awake.

Just today you were digging for "treasure." You were sure to tell me that you were NOT a pirate but just a "regular boy." You say some of the funniest things! You don't talk as much as your sister but I think it's because she doesn't give you the chance. She talks non-stop! Believe me, you talk a lot too though! You are much more serious in your conversations and you have already started challenging me with your questions about Earth, robots, and so much more. Yesterday you asked us what was on the other side of Earth!

You are a good eater but you can be pretty picky. You favorite food, by far, is chicken nuggets. You love pizza too (something Addison refuses to eat). You don't drink a lot of water but love your milk with meals. You love drinking juice but rarely get it at home. You love anything chocolate - you totally got that from me. You also love snacks - you definitely get that from your Daddy.

You started karate a few weeks ago and really like it! You especially love it when your favorite teacher, Mr. Mike, is there. He is also the owner of the karate place. You seem to like the other teachers too, but not as much. You are also doing great at school this year. I think having your own time with your own teacher has been very beneficial. Today, when I picked you and Addison up, you gave her a giant hug. That made me so happy and I might have cried if we weren't still standing in your classroom. :)

You still love watching TV and you especially love playing games on our cell phones. We definitely have to limit your time, but I do have to say that you soak it all in and I think that's part of the reason you do so well with letters and spelling.

You are my little man and I love you so much, especially when you are blowing me kisses as I put you to bed and close your door. That's become one of my favorite nightly traditions with you!

I will write another one of these soon so I can do a better job of remembering everything about you! Until next time!
I love you,
Mommy :)

In honor of Addison and Fischer turning 3 1/2, I decided to do these letters!

Dear Addison,

You recently turned 3 1/2. I can't believe how old you are! Or how big you have gotten.  You had a visit to the doctor a few weeks ago and you were 31 pounds! That's a big difference from your tiny little 4.5 pound body when you were born! Speaking of that, you love hearing your birth story. Of course I leave some of the details out, but you love hearing all about how I knew you and Fischer were getting ready to come meet us, our time at the hospital and who came to visit you. And you remember every detail. Actually, you pretty much remember anything we ever say to you. You also remember things we say when we think you can't hear us. We are really having to watch our conversations around you!

You started dance a few weeks ago and you are loving it. You are the oldest one in your class but I think that's good since you've never danced before. I don't think you would like it as much if they put you in the older class. You love telling us about your ballet and tap, and you love walking around the house practicing your plies. You also like showing us your stretches "flex, point, flex point."

You've been such a big girl this year at school. You've only cried one day at drop off, which is really good. I was so worried about separating you from Fischer but I think you are both enjoying your alone time. Your teacher seems very artsy, which is a great fit for you. You love coloring, doing puzzles (you are so quick!), playing with play doh, doing stickers and writing "lists." You aren't so into learning your letter sounds and numbers but I know that will come with time.

You are a wonderful eater, and you especially love meat and seafood. You aren't as into veggies as you used to be but I think it's just a phase. You are very adventurous and will try most things at least once. You drink a lot of water and mostly milk with meals. Occasionally you get to have juice at home, but that's mostly reserved for snack time at school.

You still sleep with your wubby, meow meow and blanket, and will not sleep if one is missing. Speaking of sleep, your bedtime routine has been a bit challenging lately. You've become somewhat clingy and you want me to lay there with you until you fall asleep. This isn't a habit we ever started so I'm trying really hard not to now. You sleep with your lamp or closet light on, but I can tell being alone in your room at night makes you nervous. Your Daddy and I have taken to bribing you with coins for your piggy bank to get you to lay in your bed without crying when we leave the room. Great, right?! It's working these days though. You love earning coins and say that you and Fischer are saving up for his Knight car and your Beauty and the Beast car. And you have pretty much given up naps. I thought once school started back up you'd get back into them, but I was wrong. You'll spend about 30 minutes to an hour in your room "reading" and doing puzzles but you'd much rather hang out with me. :)

You are quite the mama's girl and seem to have a hard time saying bye to me. You are always fine once I leave though, so that's good.  I'm trying to remember that you won't always want to be around me this much! :)

You still wear a pull-up when you are sleeping. At this rate I feel like you will be wearing those until you go to college, but the doctor assured me that you will stop wearing them at some point.... I'm just trusting that she's right. :)

You have the biggest personality and make me laugh so much. You have started talking in this very southern voice sometimes and we aren't quite sure where you are getting that from! You are also so caring and are always worried about other people and animals. Your teacher says you act very mature for your age because of the caring things you say to the other kids. I loved hearing that!

Your imagination is huge and I love listening to you play and tell stories. When you and Fischer play together, I hear some of the funniest stuff!! Just today, you were outside on our porch "fishing." You told me you caught some catfish but they were living in a box at the aquarium and you had to go rescue them. Your story would have gone on and on if you hadn't been distracted by something Fischer was doing!

I could go on and on about you! I will do another one of these soon because I don't write down enough of what you do! Time is going so fast!

I love you, Baby Girl!
Mommy (sometimes known as Mama or Mom to you!)
