Awhile ago, I saw some posts online about someone building their daughter a little wardrobe for dress-up stuff. Addison's closet is pretty big but her dress-up stuff was up on the higher bar and she couldn't reach it. She was always calling me in there to grab different dresses for her.

So, I asked Scott to build her something just for her princess dresses! He is quite handy and was able to build it for her over 2 days. He went to Lowe's on a Friday, got all of his supplies, and finished up on Saturday! It turned out great and now she can reach everything she needs to be a princess! :)

It has a shelf for purses, a hollow bottom for shoes and other accessories, and hooks on the outside for necklaces! And, I heard from Santa and I think he is bringing a whole new set of dresses and accessories to help fill up this space. Addison will be SO excited!

Since Addison was getting something new in her room, I thought it was only fair that Fischer got something new too! I saw the idea for a "homemade" Lego table online. Actual Lego tables can be quite expensive so I loved making this one for so cheap!

I ordered the table from IKEA ($8!) and bought the Lego base plates on Amazon.com. Our first attempt at attaching the base plates with hot glue didn't work, so Scott bought some stronger plastic adhesive and it worked great!

Hopefully these new things will help pass the time when we are stuck inside on the days that are too cold to go outside! Luckily, we don't have too many of those around here! :)

Friday, November 9, was declared Komarnicki date night! But not for Scott and me but for Scott and Addison and Fischer and me!

Scott and Addison have been talking about going on a chicken wing date for awhile (they share a deep love for wings) but we could never work out a night. When we finally picked a night, Fischer immediately said that he and I were going to go on a pizza date. That sounded like a good plan to me!

We talked about it all week and we were all so excited! Friday came and when I dropped the kids off at school, they were both chattering away to the teachers about the dates! It was cute! :) Scott and Addison went to Buffalo Wild Wings, where she opted for "10 teriyaki wings."

Fischer and I headed out on our date... I made him go to Old Navy with me first, and then on to CiCi's where he was amazed by all of the pizza on the buffet. Still, with so many choices, he stuck with his favorite - pepperoni. He did eat a small salad first though!

After dinner the 4 of us met up at a cookie place for dessert. The kids got to pick out any cookie they wanted (with some gentle guidance) and they were in awe of the giant cookie cakes on display!

It was a great time and we can't wait to do it again soon!!

A couple of weeks ago, Fischer was sooo excited when Scott asked him if he wanted to go on a four wheeler ride at night. He thought it was so cool riding around in the dark and loved using the headlights.

Addison got a turn too, but she didn't think it was as fun. Scott said she was very quiet during the ride and she later told me she only wants to go when it's light out.

Just another one of their many differences!! :)

Since it's been getting dark earlier and our outside time in the afternoons is limited, I've been having to come up with different ways to keep Addison and Fischer occupied.

We've been doing more art, and I'm so excited that Fischer is actually sitting and doing art with us now. He still doesn't sit for too long at once, but at least he participates! Here is one of his masterpieces from a couple of weeks ago...

And, the other day when we were changing the number on our Countdown to Thanksgiving board, Fischer actually wrote the number "7" all on his own! I was one proud Mommy! And, he actually gripped the chalk correctly! That's something I've worked with him on but I gave up for awhile because he and I were both getting frustrated. I'm guessing they've been working on this at school!

Addison loves helping me. She is my little shadow and is always one step behind me. I have gotten smart and started to use this to my advantage! The other day I had her unload our giant pack of toilet paper. It turns out she wanted it all in one bathroom, under one sink, but that's ok!

She's also gotten quite good at folding towels and even puts them away! But, sometimes, she decides she wants to play with them instead so I end up having to rewash them. They are entertained by the funniest things sometimes!

And some nights, after dinner, we have dance parties! Addison and Fischer take turns requesting songs and we have fun dancing. Last week, I took some pictures during our dance party, which also included beads and fire hats! :)

On Saturday, November 3, we - Team Hee Hawg! -  participated in the Chili Cook-Off for the 7th year!

Sadly, we didn't win anything this year, but a great time was still had by all! And we raised $450 for an awesome cause! Scott, as usual, took care of all of the cooking.  I tried to help as much as I could this year, but the kids kept me pretty occupied both during the event and the days leading up to it! It actually kind of snuck up on us this year but we managed to get everything done beforehand!

On the day of the event, Scott headed down to Five Points pretty early. The kids and I hung out at home that morning and then headed there after lunch. There was a kids zone with a bouncy house this year so the kids were pretty excited to check that out.

We got there around 1 and met up with everyone else. The kids and I went over to the kids zone, and while they had fun bouncing, I could only pay attention to that chaos in the area. I am usually pretty laid back but this was just crazy. So many kids and they were all over the place. They let way too many kids bounce at once and it was just a stressful situation. So, after letting the kids play for a few minutes, I got them out and we headed back to the tent.

After some socializing and chili-eating (Fischer even ate half a cup of another team's chili - "beans with line cheese"), the kids headed home with Jim and Dianne! They were nice enough to bring them home and feed them dinner so that I could have some adult time with friends! I stayed through awards, we got some dinner and then I came home to relieve Jim and Dianne while Scott spent the night in Five Points having a fun night with the guys.

It was a fun time and I'm sure we'll be back at it again next year!

The kids have been playing very well together these days. They have their share of fights, of course, but it's fun to listen to and watch them play together. Their imaginations are so big and the stuff they come up with is hilarious!

One day, they played for about an hour in their "spaceships."

They've also been sharing their tricycles...

They spent some time reading together...

And they spent some time playing before heading to the Chili Cookoff...

And here are a couple of funny things they've said this week...

Last night, Addison was playing with her baby doll and talking on a phone, which was really a little remote control. She said "Baby Sarah, you have too much energy! But I can't call because I don't have signal...maybe the battery is out of juice." It was so funny because these are all things I say. I don't say the battery thing - I do say batteries need to be recharged so I'm not sure where the juice thing came from. Anyway, they repeat so much of what we say.

The other night, they were taking a bath together and I asked Fischer to do something and he said "But Mommy. There is only 1 of me." Oops.. I say that a lot, I know. Haha! :)

Ok, I am going to attempt to catch up on what we've been doing. I finally put all of my recent pictures on the computer, so hopefully I can get caught up!

Going all the way back to October....

We went to Boo at the Zoo on Monday, October 29. Before going, we went to dinner at Chick-Fil-A. That's become sort of a tradition - we go before Boo and the Zoo and before going to look at Christmas lights.

It was cold so the kids had to wear jackets over the costumes, but we got a picture of them before going in.

They got some good stuff - some candy and some other stuff. Fischer wasn't so excited about the non-candy stuff (he would say "what IS this?" but they still had a good time!

Fischer got to wear one of his sweater vests (which I happen to love)...

And Lucy was allowed up on the furniture. She was quite excited and made herself comfortable right away! :)

That's about it for the end of October. It was a very busy month but we had a lot of fun doing a lot of family stuff.

This post is long overdue, and I feel bad because I am so proud of my little man!

On Friday, October 26, Fischer got to take his first belt test for karate! When he started, his belt was plain white. His test was so that he could get the white belt with a black stripe! Here he is with Addison waiting on everything to start.

It wasn't just him - it was a large group with a variety of belt colors, so it was fun to watch all of them do their different skills.

Fischer was the youngest one there! There are several other 3 years olds in his classes but he was the only one testing on this particular night, so that made me a little nervous! But he didn't seem to notice he was the youngest one...

The whole thing took about an hour. There was a lot of waiting involved, but overall, he did a pretty good job. The instructor, Mr. Mike, was good about making sure he got to move around and go first on some of the things.

He ran laps (all alone, and ended up just falling flat out on the floor once he got too tired... it was so funny!)...

He grappled (wrestled)...

Fought the purple man...

Did jumping jacks and push ups (he got his own little red square because he kept venturing into the other squares)...

And finally, got his new belt! Here he with with Mr. Mike!

Jim and Dianne came to watch and support him too, and they treated him (and us) to a delicious pizza dinner to celebrate. I'm so sad I didn't get a picture of Fischer with them!!

We are so proud of Fischer and can't wait until his next belt test!

The week of the fair, we made a pretty big decision and decided to buy a boat. We went and looked at it after leaving the fair on that Friday, thought/talked about it, and decided to go for it. Scott is definitely good at his job in sales - he was able to talk me into this! :)

We know we will get a lot of use out of in the spring and summer. The kids are the perfect age and we live so close to lakes and semi-close to the ocean! Now we won't have to try and figure out what to do on those hot summer days now! We can pack our lunch, pack up the kids, load up Lucy and spend the day on the water!

The kids immediately named the boat Bucky after their favorite show. They are just a little obsessed. We were just thankful they agreed on the name and it was that simple!

The kids love climbing around on it while it's in our driveway for now, although we did get to take it out on Lake Wateree once. Hopefully we'll get to take it out again soon!

Since we had a surplus of pumpkins this year (I went a little crazy at Wal-Mart because they were only $3.88 each!), I decided to let Addison and Fischer paint one.

I don't know why I never thought to use egg crates for our paint before, but it worked great! And the paint looks so pretty sitting in it.

Addison started hers by doing a smiley face, but quickly painted over it.

Fischer quickly got to work - his main goal was to cover every inch of that pumpkin with paint.

He worked from every angle.

This actually kept them busy for a good amount of time! We had to let them dry overnight on the table and then we took them back to the front porch so they could be on display. :)
