How is it possible that Thanksgiving has already come and gone?! Ours was nice, and Addison and Fischer loved all of the extra attention they got from having both of their Grandmas here, along with Grandpa S and great grandma S!

The weather was great so we spent a lot of time outside. And, incase you were wondering, the kids barely ate a thing that night. I think having extra people here along with a lot of food is overwhelming for them. They did manage to choke down some of the cake Great Gma brought. :)

Here are a few pictures from the day:

I can't believe tomorrow will be our 3rd Thanksgiving with Addison and Fischer!! And hopefully, I will take pictures - I've been such a slacker with the camera lately!

It should be a fun time, and I think they will really enjoy the food this year. Their first Thanksgiving, we bought them a jar of pureed turkey and let them try a little of the other stuff we were having. Last year, they were able to eat everything but I think they were too overwhelmed and hardly ate at all. We'll see what they eat tomorrow!

I know they will have a great day because they will be getting lots of attention from Grandma K, Grandma and Grandpa S and Great Grandma S too!

Here they are on their first Thanksgiving, with the lovely headbands that Scott and I made and trays full of potatoes! :)

Just a quick update tonight...

Just when we thought we were all on the mend, we aren't. I ended up taking Fischer to the doctor today because of a nasty cough that's been hanging around. Turns out, he has bronchitis. So as Addison finished her 10 days of Amoxicillin tonight, Fischer started his. That will make 20 straights days of administering medicine around here.

Addison does seem to be feeling better after her ear infection. And I am finally feeling better after my cold, so hopefully we can get rid of Fischer's cough and all be healthy again!

We are getting excited for next week's Thanksgiving festivities. We'll have some family in town, and I know Addison and Fischer will love the extra attention!

Will post again soon!

Here are a few more of my favorite shots from our photo session with Nixie on October 30.

I've been meaning to write about this all week but a very bad cold (along with Addison and Fischer being sick) have kept me away! We are on the mend... I think, but it has been one yucky week around here. It's no fun being sick... it's definitely no fun being a sick mommy, and it is AWFUL being a sick mommy with sick kids at the same time. Talk about tiring!

Anyway, last Thursday, Scott and I picked the kids up from school and headed to Atlanta for the night. It was our first family vacation (even if it was only 1 night) that wasn't specifically to visit family.

We ate lunch after school, then hit the road, which worked out nicely since that is when Addison and Fischer usually nap. It took about 3 1/2 hours to get to our hotel, and they did great in the car! We got to our hotel and let them explore the room. Our original plan was to head to the Olympic Centennial Park nearby to let the kids run around. Unfortunately, it was pretty rainy... we did go to the park but it was a short trip because it started raining really hard, and someone (me??) forgot our rain gear!

Scott's sister, Julie, happened to be in town for work but was flying out Thursday night. We ended up getting to visit with her for about 30 minutes, which was nice. All the kids could talk about was seeing "Aunt Doolie" so I'm glad it worked out.

After that, we met up with one of Scott's good friend's parents, who happen to live in Atlanta. We hadn't seen them since our wedding so it was really nice. We all went out for pizza, and it was a great time despite getting soaking wet (even with borrowed umbrellas) on the way! They were nice enough to bring the kids little goody bags so that kept them quite entertained and gave the grown-ups a chance to chat, at least a little bit.

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel to let the kids take a bath, unwind and get to bed. We got a suite, so the bedroom part had 2 queen beds in it. Our plan was to put 1 kid in each bed (NO pack n plays!!!!), then Scott and I could go out into the living area of the room and not have to go to bed quite as early as the kids. We weren't sure how it would work out, but they did great! Then when Scott and I went to bed, he slept with Fischer and I slept with Addison. They are becoming such big kids! :) They slept great but were up SOO early.. around 5:00. And there was no chance of them going back to sleep.

So, we got up and headed downstairs for breakfast. Then we headed back up to the room to relax since we still had awhile to wait.

Then we got ready for our big day - our real reason for visiting Atlanta. The Aquarium!! I was so excited! :) I think the kids were too - we'd been talking about our trip for weeks. They were already pretty tired by the time the aquarium opened at 10, but they got a second wind once we got there and made it for a few hours. It was really neat and I'm sure we will go back at some point. Addison and Fischer really seemed to enjoy it!

One of my favorite parts (and I think theirs too) was when we first got there. There were 2 divers in this huge tank cleaning the glass. They kept waving to Addison and Fischer, and even came up to the glass to give Fischer a high five. These pictures are funny - at first he was freaked out and ran away. Then he went back!

After lunch, we decided it was time to go. They were very tired and tantrums were on the horizon. While we were walking back to the car we passed the playground at the Olympic park, so we let them play for awhile. Then we went the rest of the way back to the car. Fischer was asleep before we left the parking lot and Addison wasn't too far behind. They slept the entire 3 1/2 hours home!

It's so fun doing things like this as a family, and seeing new things through Addison and Fischer's eyes. They are at such a fun age for things like this and I can't wait to do another little family excursion!  The kids got to ride in style while walking back to the car...

Addison woke up this morning and still had a fever and just felt all-around yucky. She was up a few times last night, too. Her fever has been lingering since Sunday, so I figured it was best to go ahead and take her to the doctor. Luckily Scott is in town right now, so he was able to hang out with Fischer so I didn't have to keep up with both of them during the appointment.

It turns out she has an ear infection! We've gone almost 3 years without a single one, so I guess we are pretty lucky! She got her first dose of medicine with lunch today, and has to keep taking it for 10 days. Hopefully she'll be feeling back to normal soon.

And since she has barely eaten since Sunday, I thought a doughnut treat after her appointment would at least get something in her tummy... you know, since she shouldn't take her medicine on an empty stomach. :) And yes, she ate it all!

Both kids are sick, so it's been kind of yucky around here! Fevers and A LOT of snot - never fun. We have kleenex sitting out everywhere, humidifers running and Tylenol flowing. Sounds like a lot of fun, right?! Fischer's fever seems to have gone away but Addison's is sticking around. Which means no school for them tomorrow since they have to be fever-free for 24 hours. Hopefully they are all better and can go back on Thursday!

It was really nice outside yesterday and this morning so we've been out some trying to get some fresh air. I feel like that has to help them feel a little better! Or at least it gets their mind off of feeling bad for a little while.

I have more updates to write about, but for now I am going to post one of the pictures from our recent family photo session with Nixie! Yay for new family pictures! :)

We knew that when we moved from our rental house to this house, we didn't want to bring the cribs. As a result, we transitioned Addison and Fischer into their toddler beds back in May! How has it been that long already?!

For awhile, the only thing in their rooms here were their toddler beds. They had been getting into the dresser drawers at the rental house during nap time, which caused quite a mess, so I didn't want to put too many distractions in their rooms. We'd planned on sticking with their toddler beds for at least 6 months, but maybe a year, and then we'd move on to their really big beds!

Fischer had other plans, I guess. He started having A LOT of trouble sleeping. It got to where he hated going to bed, and he hated nap time, which was very unlike him. We tried everything we could think of to make him feel better about being in his room about sleeping. We tried different night lights. We tried putting extra blankets on his mattress beneath his sheets to make it softer. We didn't think it was the new room itself because this issue started at least 6 weeks after we moved. We kept asking him what was wrong and several times he told us he didn't like his bed.

So, we figured we might as well go ahead and try the big bed since we'd tried everything else. So, the 4 of us took a trip to IKEA (as I'd mentioned before) and got their big-boy and big-girl furniture. I was a little worried about having dressers in their rooms, but, I must say, they've done great!

Since getting rid of their toddler beds and switching to big beds, Fischer has slept like a champ! And he hasn't cried about going to bed since. So, it really must've been something about his bed?! Addison has slept great too. And they don't mess with anything in their rooms when they should be sleeping. Addison will run around sometimes during nap time, and get books out of her night stand, but she almost always ends up taking a nap.

The point of this post is to show their new furniture with the new bedding! They both still need some things on their walls, but they are really liking their fun sheets and comforter (Addison) and quilt (Fischer).

For Fischer, we went with a red, white and blue nautical "theme." It matches the blue on his walls very well and he really seems to like it! The sheets have boats and anchors on them, and I found some fitting anchors for the wall for only $7 for 3! I bought the shams and life preserver pillow but we happened to have the shark already.

For Addison, we went with a pink and green floral pattern for the comforter and pink and green stripes for the sheets.

Little did I know, both the comforter and the quilt are reversible!! She always wants the flower side showing, but the reverse side is the stripes that matches her sheets. His reverse side is a solid red color! I was pretty excited when I realized that they could both be flipped over for a whole new look.

Oh, and both of their beds and really low to the ground incase they fall out, which hasn't really happened yet. We just did a thin foam mattress from IKEA for now, and will eventually add a box spring.

They just look so little in their big beds! But that's ok - I don't want them to look big yet. :)
