On Monday, we tried out the water colors that the Easter bunny brought...  it took Addison and Fischer a few minutes to catch on, but then they seemed to enjoy it. I kept repeating "wet, dip, paint" for wet the brush, dip the brush in the paint, and paint on the paper. Occasionally I saw them put the brush in the water, then their mouths (nothing new for them).

Fischer ended up blending all of his colors together, so his entire picture was black. Addison's colors stayed separate, for the most part, and she made a pastel piece. I thought it was funny that even their painting styles are already so different.

I quickly realized that the paint sets could only be used once, so I'll be going back to the dollar store to stock up on some more!

The Easter bunny came and left Addison and Fischer some goodies for Easter. They had fun going through their baskets this year! They got a lot of books (their favorite), some cars, a plastic horse, water color paints, slinkies (which are already broken), magnifying glasses, bunny ears, and a few other things. Scott and I had to laugh as they pulled out their magnifying glasses... I was fully expecting to have to explain what to do with them, but Fischer said "Fying glass!" and Addison immediately put hers up to her eye. They are such smart little things. :)

During nap, Scott and I hid some plastic eggs outside. The kids quickly caught on to what they were supposed to do and had a great time. Addison kept saying "I find more?!" She was very into the whole thing. The first picture is of them waiting to go out and start hunting eggs - I'm not sure why Addison looks so scared.

After the egg hunt, we filled their new water table up. It's supposed to be sand on one side and water on the other, but we just put water in both sides. We put all of the eggs in the water, along with a few of the toys that came with it, and they had a great time splashing and getting wet!

I recently bought Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook, Deceptively Delicious. Addison and Fischer are pretty good about eating their vegetables, but I figured it couldn't hurt to have them eat a few more. So far, I've made 2 recipes from the book, and the kids have really liked them!

First, I made Peanut Butter and Jelly muffins. These muffins had carrot puree (which I was able to do while cooking their lunch one day) in them, which made them a healthy little snack for the kids, and for me too! Here they are before going into the oven...

And proof that Addison and Fischer enjoyed them...

Second, I made Chocolate Chip Cookies with chickpeas in them. These are also really good, but do taste a bit different than the chocolate chip cookies you might be used to. The texture is a bit different too. They did get approval from Addison and Fischer though!

Both recipes also use egg whites, margarine instead of butter, and brown sugar instead of white sugar. So overall, they are a healthier option when it comes to eating something sweet.

I'm not sure what's next but I plan on trying another recipe soon!

April has been busy, as I've mentioned. Some of our activities have involved birthdays!

My friend, Melissa, and her husband Ryan, welcomed their baby girl on April 14.  Sadly, I wasn't able to get to the hospital to meet her but went to their house as soon as I could. Then, a few days later, Scott and I took the kids over to meet her. It was quick visit, but they loved seeing "Baby Logan." They've been talking about her ever since, and Fischer even calls her "Princess Logan" sometimes. :)  Here I am holding her on Wednesday - only 6 days old! Scott got some baby love too! It's hard to imagine that Addison and Fischer were even smaller than her. They grow up so fast!! I can't wait to visit her again soon.

In other birthday news, we went to a fun birthday party today. Our friend, Rylan, is turning 2 this week and we got to help her celebrate. Instead of gifts, they asked for donations for The Chlidren's Hospital, which was so fun to shop for. The party was at a petting zoo, and included a hayride and pony rides.  Addison and Fischer loved looking at all of the animals, and were completely worn out by the time we left.

Here they are, ready to party. I promise, Addison isn't picking her nose (this time!).

Some of the animals...

Fischer loved riding the pony, while Addison preferred watching. We could tell she really wanted to ride it, but just got scared when it was her turn (we tried 3 different times). However, tonight, she's been telling us how she rode the pony... we are letting her believe that she did. :)

And they got fun hats to bring home...

Here is a picture of Addison and Fischer with Rylan from a few weeks ago since I couldn't get them to hold still long enough today for a picture together.

I think we finally picked our granite. Woohoo! Once everything is finalized, I'll give you more details.

Our floors are in and we are so happy with how they look! I'm not sure when they'll start sanding and staining them but we are excited to see the finished product.

Here are the floors in the playroom...

And the hallway leading from the kitchen to our bedroom and the garage...

The kitchen...

The living room...

The foyer with the dining room in the background...

In not-so-good news, someone stole one of our HDMI cables. It wasn't a cheap cable, and was put in place awhile ago so that it could be hidden behind the wall. So, not only do we have to buy a new one, but we have to figure out how to feed it back into the wall where it was before. Hopefully something like that doesn't happen again - it's beyond frustrating.

In other news, Addison has her first black eye. :( She fell outside today and hit her eye against a piece of wood. She didn't cry for as bad as it looks but it's obvious it's a little tender tonight. I tried to take a picture of it but she wouldn't look at the camera. I like to document all of the firsts - even the not-so-fun ones!

April continues to be busy for us! I'm hoping things will slow down, at least a little, when May arrives.

Here are some of the latest updates from the house...

The porch is coming along. They should be adding the screens soon.

They hardwood floors are moving quickly too. It's hard to see, but they are actually using different widths of boards, 3" and 5". I haven't seen it in person, but Scott says it looks great!

They have also started some of the detail work on the front of the house, which will include columns and some exposed beam work over the front entryway.

We are making some progress on our granite decision. The kids are becoming pros at looking at house stuff! Today, we got in the car and Fischer said "Look at paint? Look at granite?" We also took them to the house yesterday and they had so much fun exploring all of the different rooms. Their favorite thing was sitting in the closets - I think they think they are little forts. :)

And here are a couple pictures of the kids. I love this picture of Fischer because it's the perfect combination of Scott and me - part South Carolina and part camo. And Addison is being Ms. Serious - Wearing one of her new hair clips from Grandmommy K. :)

The tile in our master shower is done, and we love how it looks. We ended up using the same tile that's on the floors for the wall, and a slightly different one for the floor. The floor tiles had to be smaller, and we actually thought we'd be using the smaller one on the walls too. Our contractor advised against that though, saying it would have way too much grout that way and that the bigger ones would look better and be much easier to clean. So, we trusted him, and we are pleased with how it turned out.

They started putting in the hardwood floors today! The whole house except for the bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry room will be hardwood. We haven't picked a stain for them yet, but know it will be something dark. I'm anxious to get there and see it in person.

Our search for a granite that we love will continue this afternoon - keep your fingers crossed that we can find something because time is running out!

Things are still moving quickly on our new house! Here are some pictures from this past week. We are loving how the cabinets turned out, and I'm excited to see the tile in person. This week, they will paint (we finally made our final color choices), work on the decking, and I'm not sure what else.

Here are the cabinets in our master bathroom. They will be painted a dark brown and there will be one sink on each side.

The "boot box" under our window in the master bedroom... We will probably use this box for storing sweaters, blankets, etc...

Kitchen cabinets! These will be stained, but we haven't decided on a color yet. The island also has cabinets and drawers, which provides some extra storage space. The island will also be where the microwave and beverage center go.

They already put trash cans in the\is pull out cabinet for us. One less thing to buy later! Although being the Type-A person that I am, I may buy another white trash can because the two cans are different colors. I know, a minor detail, but it still bothers me!

The built-ins in the living room. The TV will go on the wall in the middle between the windows. The cabinets will be where we keep movies, our cable box, DVD player, etc... And, the fireplace is where the black square is.

The tile in our master bathroom. All 3 bathrooms, as well as the laundry room, will have this same tile.

The deck and screened porch! The stairs are coming off of the deck and will go into a fenced in yard. We will most likely put a baby gate at the top of the stairs incase we want to contain our curious little ones.

I mentioned that we recently went on a quick overnight trip to see my parents since Scott had a meeting nearby. While we were there, we went to a park that had several baseball fields. We took 2 little bats and some balls. Addison and Fischer liked chasing the balls, until they discovered the mud puddle. The puddle quickly became the highlight of the visit to the park. And, since we didn't have any extra clothes with us, they got to ride home in only diapers, which made Addison a little concerned. She said "No shirt?!" as if she was offended. :)

Here they are with their bats...

Here they are playing in the puddle.

Things have been pretty hectic around here! Starting Thursday, I worked at my Moms of Multiples Consignment Sale. I worked Thursday night, all day Friday and Saturday until about 2. Addison and Fischer got a lot of Daddy time, and I know they loved it! I did some shopping at the sale, and spent less than I made from what I sold, which is always nice. I got Addison and Fischer a lot of new stuff, all for great prices. I love finding deals!

Last week, Scott found out he was going to have a meeting Monday morning near my parents house. So, he asked if we wanted to tag along! We headed up Sunday morning and spent the night with my parents, then headed home Monday afternoon. It was short, but lots of fun. I have some pictures and a video (think splashing around in a mud puddle) from that trip that I will post soon!

So, like I said, it's been busy and I'm just now getting a chance to sit at my computer.

The house is coming along and Scott and I are going to have to start making some decisions very soon - paint colors, granite, cabinet stain, etc.... these decisions make me very nervous!  A lot of things are happening at the house. The cabinets are all being installed, and this week, the garage and porch concrete with be poured. They will also begin working on the deck, completing the trim work and starting the wainscoting! They are hoping to paint next week. We are so happy with how quickly things are going.

The kids have been doing and saying some funny stuff lately, so I will post more about that later. Also, we have a cat that has been living under our house, and we are fairly certain she's pregnant. We started feeding her when we figured out that she was pregnant. We've also figured out that she doesn't have front claws, which means she was someone's pet at some point in time.  So, we are watching out for her and on the look out for kittens. Never a dull moment around here....

Here are a couple cabinet pictures from today! The first picture is of the cabinets in the master bathroom, and the second is the laundry room.
