After 8 long weeks at "doggy college," Lucy is finally home with us! She was only supposed to stay 6 weeks but things got delayed a bit because of her young age, and a few areas that her "professor" wanted to improve on.

They brought her home this past Friday, September 28. We specifically scheduled it for a day when the kids would be at school so that we could really work with the trainers. They stayed long enough to work with the kids a bit too after I picked them up.  When we were pulling into the driveway and the kids saw her on the front porch, they both gasped and Addison said "mama! she is so big!" They've seen pictures all along but I think they thought she was still a little puppy! :) Luckily, for Lucy, she is too big to be toted around by Addison these days.

It was all a little overwhelming, but we were eager to get her home and start doing all of the techniques we've been learning about. I think it's similar to having a baby - you can read up and learn about all sorts of things but you don't really get it until you actually have to do it.

So far she's adjusted great to being at home. She is still a 5 month old puppy so she has a lot of energy, but that's nothing new around here. She is definitely testing her limits with us, as the trainer said she would, so we are prepared for that.  It's pretty amazing having a dog that's actually well-trained, and listens to what we say! :)

Scott took her to the vet yesterday just to have her checked out since she'd been away for so long. Our vet said she looks great, and she weighed in at  28 pounds! She is already up to about 3+ cups of food per day (1.5 cups twice a day).  The kids were a little nervous yesterday morning when we told them Scott was taking her to see Dr. Ham. The last time they remember hearing about Dr. Ham was when Scott took Bo, so they kept saying "but will Daddy bring her home?" "Will Daddy drop her off like he did Bo?" and several other similar questions. They don't forget a thing!

Finally! A picture! I plan on doing a post of just pictures soon so that I can get caught up on those too.
